Just 20 miles from downtown Montrose, CO behind a locked gate you could be kicking your boots off to a warm fire and watching the sun set over the San Juan mountains. This 1,568 Sq. ft. mountain cabin is located at about 9,000 ft. elevation on the edge of the aspen and spruce forest on 6.2 acres overlooking your very own small fishing pond as the mountains reach upward in the backround. This cabin has one main bedroom with a loft separated into two more additional sleeping areas, allowing this space to comfortably sleep a total of 6 not including the downstairs bedroom. This cabin is located in the Horsefly II development in the coveted trophy hunting GMU 61. This is one of the only cabins to have such a broad view of the mountains to the south. The Cabin is powered by a 6500 watt generator and has a well engineered community water system. The cabin also has a quaint front porch and a Juliette porch off the upstairs loft. The sunroom to the south with expansive windows provides the best views in the entire development. The cabin construction was designed in such a way to draw the heat through the south facing windows to heat the porcelain tiles in the sunroom. Specialty placed interior windows and vents allow this solar heat to flow into the main room of the cabin and draw back through the lower windows creating circular flow of air movement. Additional heat is suppled by a wood burning vintage stove that provides enough heat to drive you out in the dead of winter. Additional improvements include a tool shed/ work shop which also houses the generator. One added bonus; this is the only cabin where you can have consistant 4G service with a cell phone for those who want to still stay connected. If you're a hunter...you are located near one of the best over-the-counter elk units in the state. GMU 62 is a stones throw away from the coveted unit 61 trophy unit. This allows hunters to buy a tag every year while hunting along side a trophy unit which means great chances at big bulls. If hunting isn't your thing, plenty of other recreational activities include 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, and skiing. Dave Wood Road stays plowed all winter so winter access is not a far hike or snowmobile ride to enjoy the cabin through the entire winter!
