For some, Labor Day Weekend signals the end of summer and beginning of Fall, but in Ridgway the long weekend means just one thing: the Rodeo. Out West the Rodeo still plays a part in Cowboy Culture. From ropin’, to mutton bustin’, open barrel racing and steer packing, the Rodeo takes folks back in time where long held traditions are passed down through daring and skill.
Young and old fill the grand stands to watch in awe as kids as young as 3 and 4 years of age attach their little bodies to the backs of sheep in determined fashion – their legs wrapped as tight as can be around the sheep’s torso while the sheep takes off at full speed during the mutton bustin’ competition.
And of course, what would a Rodeo be without bull riding!
If you’ve never experienced the sights and sounds of a Rodeo, you can be sure the Ouray County Fairgrounds will come alive next year on Labor Day weekend.
Ridgway Real Estate is a proud sponsor of the Ouray County Rodeo!
